Happy 2016! Welcome to the January Energy Efficient Business e-bulletin, bringing you news and information to help your business use energy more productively.

Make 2016 your year to be more energy efficient

Financial assistance is available to help you make better use of energy in 2016.

Aside from direct cost savings, greater energy efficiency has been shown to yield numerous productivity benefits, from improved staff wellbeing to reduced machinery downtime and maintenance requirements.

OEH may be able to assist your business with the following:

  • Up to 50 per cent off the cost of an energy audit
  • Up to $10,000 for technical expertise (such as engineering design) to support implementation of your project
  • Up to $15,000 funding assistance for measurement and verification services to ensure that your project is delivering you the expected savings
  • Advice to access finance for your project including the NSW Energy Savings Scheme

This support is best suited for businesses that spend more than $80,000 a year on energy.

In addition to this, energy efficiency training courses are available at a subsidised rate of just $200 per person in metropolitan Sydney, and $100 per person in regional areas. These practical courses are designed to be useful to all businesses – small, medium and large.

Attendance also qualifies you for post-training support valued at approximately $3000, helping you put what you’ve learnt into action. This is available to you for just $300.

Tap into clean energy with ARENA

Larger businesses interested in the potential of renewable energy may be eligible for assistance from the Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA).

Its priorities for new investment includes large scale solar projects, as well as the use of renewable energy in industrial processes.

ARENA has approximately $2.5 billion in funding, which is legislated and extends until 2022.

New professional development opportunities for energy audits

In light of new Australian standards for energy auditing, the Energy Efficiency Council has new one-day training programs for energy professionals delivering audits.

The training is suitable for all consultants delivering energy audits and will be delivered by Dr Paul Bannister, one of the world's leading authorities in energy efficiency. Registrations are now open for the following sessions:

  • Tuesday 23 February 2016, Sydney
  • Thursday 25 February 2016, Melbourne
