The conference is organised by the NSW Department National Australian Built Environment Rating System (NABERS) and the Commonwealth Government’s Commercial Building Disclosure (CBD) program. NABERS and CBD are two of Australia’s leading sustainability initiatives in the built environment.
NABERS is a national rating system that measures the environmental performance of Australian buildings, tenancies and homes.
Put simply, NABERS measures the energy efficiency, water usage, waste management and indoor environment quality of a building or tenancy and its impact on the environment and compare it to similar buildings.
NABERS is a national government program administered by the NSW Department of Planning, Industry and Environment, and overseen by a national Steering Committee comprised of all State and Territory representatives, and the Australian Government.

The Commercial Building Disclosure (CBD) Program requires energy efficiency information to be provided in most cases when commercial office space of 1000 square metres or more is offered for sale or lease. The aim is to improve the energy efficiency of Australia's large office buildings and to ensure prospective buyers and tenants are informed.
The CBD Program is an initiative of the Council of Australian Governments (COAG). It was established by the Building Energy Efficiency Disclosure Act 2010 and is managed by the Australian Government Department of Industry, Science, Energy and Resources.
