Craig Reucassel

Master of Ceremonies

Craig Reucassel is an Australian writer, comedian and broadcaster who is best known for his work with The Chaser and for going through your bins on the hit ABC TV series, War on Waste.

Craig was born in South Africa but moved to Australia at a young age. He graduated from University of Sydney with honours in Bachelor of Economics (Social Science) and Bachelor of Laws.

With a fast paced wit and great intellect, he is a highly effective facilitator and an entertaining, supremely organised MC and host.

The Hon. Angus Taylor, MP

Minister for Energy and Emissions Reduction

Angus Taylor is the Minister for Energy and Emissions Reduction, following the 2019 federal election. He was elected to federal parliament in September 2013 as the Member for Hume.

Prior to entering parliament, Angus was a Director at Port Jackson Partners where he was a strategy and business advisor on the resources, agriculture, energy and infrastructure sectors. Before this he was a partner at global consulting firm McKinsey & Co.

Angus has a Bachelor of Economics (First Class Honours and University Medal) and a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) from the University of Sydney. He has a Master of Philosophy in Economics from the University of Oxford, where he studied as a Rhodes Scholar and wrote a thesis on competition policy.

Angus grew up in southern NSW on a sheep and cattle property at Nimmitabel.

The Hon. Matt Kean, MP

NSW Minister for Energy and Environment

Matt Kean is the NSW Minister for Energy and Environment, a portfolio that was first combined after the Berejiklian Government’s re-election in March 2019. Minister Kean was elected as the member for Hornsby in 2011.

Prior to entering politics, the Minister, a chartered accountant, worked at Price Waterhouse Coopers.

In his role as Energy and Environment Minister, Mr Kean released the State’s first electricity strategy to improve the reliability, affordability and sustainability of the State’s electricity system. He also negotiated an energy and emissions deal between NSW and the Commonwealth which is the largest single financial commitment to state-based emissions reduction in Australia’s history.

The Minister is a strong advocate for a science and economics led approach to climate change. Mr Kean has called out the link between climate change and this summer’s unprecedented bushfire season. He sees reducing our emissions as not only necessary to protect our environment but key to our future prosperity.

Alistair Sherwin

General Manager, Energy Efficiency Branch

Department of Industry, Science, Energy and Resources

Alistair heads up the Energy Efficiency Branch which has responsibility for implementing energy efficiency policies and programs for equipment and appliances, residential buildings, commercial buildings, and the industrial sector. Prior to this he was the Regional Manager for the Kimberley, in the Indigenous Affairs Group of the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet. He has a wide range of public sector experience including on legislation, native title policy and aid program delivery.

Carlos Flores

NABERS & Building Sustainability, DPIE

Carlos is the Director of the National Australian Built Environment Rating System (NABERS), responsible for all aspects of its delivery across Australia.

NABERS is one of Australia’s largest, longest-running and most successful government sustainability initiatives, and has been key to helping Australian companies lead all major building sustainability rankings in the past decade.

Carlos is a Mechanical Engineer by trade, and a regular speaker at conferences in Australia and overseas.

Yvonne Weldon

Chairperson

Metropolitan Local Aboriginal Land Council

Yvonne Weldon is the current Chairperson of Metropolitan Local Aboriginal Land Council. She is a proud Wiradjuri woman and maintains strong ties to her homelands of Cowra and the Riverina areas in New South Wales.

From a young age Yvonne developed an enduring passion and commitment to creating positive change for Aboriginal people and communities.

Yvonne has worked in senior positions in Aboriginal policy development, health, human services, child care services, child protection, housing, disability and Aboriginal heritage. Yvonne is a member of MLALC, Aboriginal Children’s Service, and a number of interagency throughout the Sydney Metropolitan area.

Alicia Maynard

Chairperson

Better Buildings Partnership

Alicia Maynard, Chairperson at Better Buildings Partnership has over 20 years’ experience in the property and construction industry, spanning commercial, retail, residential, industrial and educational sectors.

Alicia has held senior management roles across ASX100 listed and unlisted organisations, championing sustainability programs to deliver value for investors and customers.

An Engineer by training, Alicia is a passionate and enthusiastic advocate for sustainable outcomes across all stages of a building’s life-cycle, from thought leadership in development, design, construction, and throughout building operation.

Alicia is Chair of the Better Building Partnership and is also a committee member of the PCA’s National Sustainability Roundtable and GBCA’s Industry Advisory Group.

Davina Rooney

CEO

Green Building Council of Australia

Davina has led the Green Building Council of Australia since June 2019.  

Davina is a property professional with a broad range of sustainability experience, from environmental projects, not-for profit boards and overseas community development work, spending 8 months working in the Indian Himalayas on the construction of a school which won multiple international awards.

Career highlights include a decade at Stockland which was a global leader in sustainability. Davina has been recognised by industry awards including NAWIC NSW Sustainability 2016, PCA 2014 Future Leaders Award and Sydney University Engineering Young Alumni Award.

Francesca Muskovic

National Policy Manager

Property Council Australia

Francesca is the National Policy Manager for Sustainability and Regulatory Affairs at the Property Council of Australia. She works with representatives from Australia’s leading property companies to develop policy and advocate to federal, state and local governments. Francesca has over 12 years of experience in the built environment sector with previous roles at AECOM, the Green Building Council of Australia and the NSW Office of Environment and Heritage. She is passionate about diversity, ethics in leadership, championing social justice issues in the property sector and advocating for ambitious public policy to support a transition to a zero carbon economy.

Dr Sabine Schaffer

Managing Partner

Pro-Invest

Dr. Sabine Schaffer is Managing Partner at Pro-invest Group, focusing on structure and asset management of the Group’s funds.

Sabine has an extensive track record in private equity real estate, having over 20 years experience in setting up and managing Private Equity Funds, sourcing co-investment opportunities as well as capital markets. Sabine has focused on the Real Estate side, where she worked on the set up of a Real Estate Development Fund in the Gulf Cooperation Council region for newly built office buildings. At Pro-invest Group, Sabine oversees the asset management side of the business. The primary responsibilities of her team are the structuring of Real Estate investment vehicles, the fund management of the various hotel portfolios, procuring equity as well as bank financing as well as looking after reporting to all stakeholders.

Sabine holds a Master’s degree from Harvard University as well as PhD in Economics from Leopold Franzens University, Innsbruck, Austria.

Amy Hogan

Head of Sustainability

Stockland

Amy Hogan is the Head of Sustainability at Stockland. Her role is to shape and lead the Sustainability Strategy at Stockland, embedding ESG practices across all parts of the business to deliver tangible and long term value for its stakeholders.

Amy has an Environmental Science Degree and has extensive experience in sustainability across a number of sectors including industry, government and consulting. Amy has over 15 years in property, with organisations including Jones Lang LaSalle and Colonial First State Global Asset Management.

Amy was the recipient of the 2018 NAWIC Contribution to Sustainability Award. Amy’s key skillset is stakeholder relationship management and developing innovative partnerships. She is currently Deputy Chair of the Property Council’s Social Sustainability Committee, a member of the PCAs National Roundtable and supporting industry in a number of other working groups.

Andrew Buchel

Standards Manager

NABERS, DPIE

Andrew is the Standards Manager at NABERS where he is responsible for the development and maintenance of the NABERS Rules, Rulings and other documents used for NABERS Ratings. He also manages the internal taskforce that deals with the effects of COVID-19 on NABERS Ratings.

Andrew has a background in standardisation, particularly in the building and construction sector. Prior to joining NABERS, he worked for Standards Australia and for the International Organization for Standardization (ISO).

Blake Lindley

Senior Sustainability Consultant

Edge Environment

Blake Lindley is Senior Sustainability Consultant at Edge Environment, primarily in the delivery, expansion and development of Edge’s resource recovery projects. He is skilled in industrial ecology, waste strategy, resource efficiency and auditing and experienced in a range of sectors including energy, waste, carbon markets and the circular economy, working both within government policy and also informing its creation.

Lindley studied an undergraduate degree in Agriculture and Resource Economics at the University of Sydney (2010) and has since undertaken a Masters in Environmental Management at UNSW (2014).

He spends most of his spare time out of town – camping, surfing, snowboarding or any combination of the three.

Chris Nunn

Head of Sustainability Real Estate

AMP Capital

Chris is a sustainability expert with 19 years' experience and is currently the Head of Sustainability at AMP Capital Real Estate.

Chris has experience in: corporate social responsibility; green buildings; renewable energy; operational performance improvement; environmental management systems; environmental law; sustainability reporting; sustainability communication, education and training.

Chris worked for 5 years as an Environmental Lawyer for MinterEllison, followed by the Environmental Defender’s Office in Sydney, then received a Chevening Scholarship to study a Masters of Sustainability at the London School of Economics. Chris then spent 5 years working in London as Associate Director of Sustainability for Atkins. In 2011, Chris moved back to Sydney as Sustainability Leader at Norman Disney & Young, then worked as Sustainability Director for JLL, joining AMP Capital in September 2015.

Corine Mulet

Technical Projects Manager

Corine is the Technical Projects Manager at NABERS. One of her current focus areas is adapting NABERS Energy rating tools to the changes in the grid and the way property groups procure renewable energy.

She has previously worked on the NABERS Waste and Shopping Centre tools and has been an energy efficiency advisor for industrial building. She has a degree in Material’s engineering and has 10 years of experience in sustainability.

Esther Bailey is the Head of Market Development and customer experience at NABERS.  

She is a social scientist with a background in behavioural change, collaboration and innovation.  

She has spent the past decade working on multi-award winning programs in the property sector and business accelerating action on energy efficiency, resource recovery and climate change.

Melinda Dewsnap

Sustainability Engagement Manager

City of Sydney

Melinda Dewsnap is the Sustainability Engagement Manager at City of Sydney Council.  She is leading the implementation of the City’s Residential Apartments Sustainability Plan, collaborating across government, the strata industry and community partners to improve environmental performance in high density urban communities.  

She is passionate about NABERS and believes understanding building performance is a key driver in tackling the climate emergency and creating more resilient, net-zero carbon cities and communities.

Melinda represents the Council of Capital City Lord Mayors on the NABERS National Steering Committee and is a mentee in the C40 global Women4Climate program.

Monique is Head of Operations & Standards at NABERS, tasked with ensuring NABERS delivers on its promises.

With over 15 years of experience in environmental sustainability, she brings background in technical design and policy advisory, quality assurance and business operations to NABERS.

Monique also co-founded the multi-award winning social business Pollinate Group and has degrees in engineering and economics.

Dr Paul Bannister

Director of Innovation

Dr Paul Bannister is an energy efficiency consultant specialising in energy efficiency of commercial buildings.  He is the primary technical author of the NABERS Energy and Water ratings that have underpinned significant efficiency improvements in the Australian office market and continues to be involved in supporting the NABERS team as the rating develops.   Paul has over 100 publications in the field of energy use and the built environment.

Steve Ford

Head of Sustainability and Energy

GPT

Steve Ford is Head of Sustainability and Energy at the GPT Group. He has been in the property industry for 15 years after a previous life working with scientific organisations.

Steve has been active with NABERS since joining GPT. In particular, he was instrumental in the development of the new NABERS Waste platform and rating tool and more recently in the development and piloting of NABERS and Climate Active Carbon Neutral ratings using the market-based accounting method.

Supratik Ghosh

Lead - NABERS Sector Expansion

Supra leads the NABERS sector expansion project, which aims at expanding the program to new sectors such as aged care, industrial buildings and schools. Supra has been at NABERS since 2016. As a technical officer, he has worked in developing NABERS for hospitals and apartment buildings. Supra has also managed the implementation of the apartment buildings rating product. Supra has a background in mechanical engineering and energy systems.
